Cannot include teststand runtime whie creating installer in teststand deployement uti - Vindsan - 30.01.2026 11:51

Hi,

I am trying to create a installer in teststand deployement utility 2016 just for learning purposes, its a simple sequence file with one simple VI. The sequence file is generated in 2016 and .VI is generated in 2017. I have attached it here, its not important. What is important is here what i am trying to do in the deployement utility. In deployement utility undeo installer options I selected Teststand Runtime 2016, but the problem is when I trying to build, i am getting this, which is shown in Picture1.

Then it asks for the path to NI Teststand 2016 SP1 (32-bit). Is this the actual NI Teststand? If yes I would give it the folder, here you can only select folder and not the file. This is shown in Picture2

and I give it the path in Bin. When I select the folder this pops up, which is shown in Picture3.

But in bin, the Teststand application is not saved as Teststand, it is saved as SeqEdit.exe. Is this the problem it cant find it. If yes how can I change it to select a file instead of just the folder or what should i do to solve this issue. Thank you.

Hi Vindsan,

Zitat:Then it asks for the path to NI Teststand 2016 SP1 (32-bit). Is this the actual NI Teststand?
You need to read the message more carefully: it asks for the installer!

You need to provide the installation media used to install TestStand on your development computer…

Why is asking for installer, I am trying to install the runtime. There are 2 Teststands in my pc. One is 2025 and other is 2016. I did the same work with 2025 and it works fine. The 2025 runtime is in the local cache and i cant find it but the Teststand Deployement Utility was able to find it.

But in 2016 version, i select the runtime, it is showing a folder that is wrong

As you can see it is found under the folder Downloads of the User account imenn. But thats not my account. This is a different account. And I am unable to change the folder. So what is happening, i am not sure. This is the problem.

So I guess the user "imenn" installed TestStand2016 and decided to place the installer in its user-local download folder.
Ask that other user (or your IT department) so you get access to the needed files!
